It would seem that Shane (aka Naddz) is either being naughty with lots of ladies (ahem ladyboys) and not paying attention to his friends or he has not managed to sober up enough to find out where an internet cafe is…
Alternatively, he has forgotten his won email address and all about this little space that he created here.
Dont fret, because you never hear from them when they are having too much fun, and always hear if things are not good.
No I aint dead …and I havent been playin with any lady boys - although I have had to rescue a mate I met in Koh Samed from battin in the wrong direction!
I know I started this website with every good intention of keepin in touch with everyone - but as Shilts stated, Im havin way to good a time now Im here to be playin with computers - and I can swear my eyesight has improved as a result!! …my hearing is still as crap as ever though!! …Im not a big fan of group emails, so please dont be offended if ya aint heard from me - it’s nothin personal!…unless ofcourse I think yer a big tosser, then maybe it is!!!
In a nutshell - I’ve spent a few days in Bangkok, then 12 days in Koh Samed (a small island in the north-east of the gulf) - 5 days in Cambodia, Siem Reap (Angkor), Phnom Peng, and have been in Vietnam for almost 3 weeks now… been slowly makin my way north from Siagon, to Na Trang, Hoi An, Hanoi, Halong Bay…and am now in the north mountains in s small village called Sapa hangin out with hill tribes! …Next I’m transitting through Loas (I’ve run outta time) then down through the north of Thailand to fly outta Bagkok to Delhi on the 21st October - Am fully hangin out for India, from
everyone I’ve spoken to who’s been there - it’s gonna be incredible!!
So yeah - I’ve been havin an absolute blast!! the people and their countries have been amazing and incredibly inspiring to say the least…and have meet some very cool travellers along the way also! …I admitt Im really missin my guitar and motorbike though! …have been pickin up a guitar wherever I see one and been askin the drivers if I can do the riding instead, which most of them have no problems with!!
Anyways, time to get away from this computer before I loose my eyesight again - hope yer all doin well
Take care
Chang (that’s how they all seem to pronounce my name here)
Shane you ARE alive! Good to finally hear something from you! Glad you’re having a great time! Cool you got to some of Thailands islands - isn’t it paradise! You will have to try & put some pics on this website, make us all envious!!

Good to see all is going well and you’re not getting too close to a computer, plenty of time for that in sydney when i hook you up with a job. Take care

Hey sh-anis

Then going round Europe, so may bump into each other. Well where’s the pics of these great places?? Come on boy! Heard from RFS lately? Since you two are great buddies!! haha just teazin, take care.
Hey Bro! Where are you now? I’m heading back to nz from Japan next wedenesday. I’m looking forward to a kiwi beer(or 9) and a meat pie. I’m off to Thailand in Jan and then India for a couple of months. Afterwards I’ll head to England, what are your plans?

Just checkin in from India for those of ya who’ve been waitin for some kinda sign of life from me! …All these comments get forwarded to my hotmail account so I just been replying personally from there, which kinda makes this blog a big fat waste of time …But glad to see Dodgy and Mike have found a great use for it!!
But for those that aint up on the latest - I arrived in Delhi 21st October, spent 4 days there, the first 1.5 were spent running away from those touts tryin to sell us the ‘trip to kashmir’ for an extremely overinflated price!!!
What a crazy place, and the people even crazier …but lovin every minute of it!!
Spent the last month travelling through Ragistan (Jaipur, Bikaner, Pushkar & Udaipur) - Ragistan is a beautiful place with so much history, culture, ancient temples and forts…The camel safari in the dessert was awesome, riding on camel back through sand dunes, visiting small rural villages, camp fire cookin indian styles and sleepin under the stars …amazing experience!!
Have been travelling on my own since Pushkar, which has been great - experienceing the pleasures of travel for myself. Im now on the island of Diu at the southern tip of Gujarat, which has been a real change of pace, relaxing on the beach all day, eating and takin advantage of the extremely cheap beer!!!
From here Im off south to Goa then down to Kerala where I hope to spend the majoriy of my next 2 months hangin in the jungle, hoping to fulfill my childhood dreams of bein Indianna Jones!
hope youre way deep in the jungles, nowhere near the east coast and survived the Tsunami. Im sure everyone is thinking of you and the millions of others affected.
definately keen to hear an update that youre OK and what your plans are.
Hi Craig, Shane phoned us on Christmas Day from Goa which is West Coast and was planning on heading inland - he is well away from the area affected - thank god, we have been in a state of panic this morning as only just heard the news, checked out our map just to confirm and there is no way he could have been anyway near the south/east when it hit. Am sending him an email now.
Im still alive and safe …and have had a pretty amazing experience last night when the ripple effect hit our beach, bringing the water right up into the restaurants causing absolute panic and histeria amoung many Indians and tourists thinking a bigger sunami was on its way….We were just minding our own business in a restaurant further inland when a sea of people started screaming and running down the main streets …having not seen the water we had no idea what was going on… all 5 of us immdiately thought someone had lost it with a gun along with many others that didnt see the sea and were simply caught in the mass migration out of town!!! …it certainley didnt help that the locals were still letting off firecrackers! Once we learned what had happened at the beach we simply re-grouped, discussed what was really happening…then just sat down and watched the histeria from the street side where I started to see something extremely amusing yet familiar unfolding in front of me….Many young locals, going backwards and forwards up and down the street, purposly yelling and screaming trying to rark up all the tourists, who were either way too gullable caught up in the moment, drunk, on drugs or just paranoid Westerners ….This was working wonders on the local economy…People were paying extortionate amounts of money for a taxi out of town or a ride on someones bike and the guys at the street side restaurants and bars were loving that so many people had moved from the beach and were now sitting in their retaurants…and of course the prices seemed somewhat higher than normal - toward the end many locals were just laughing at their brillience, unable to hold a straight face anymore - and I sat their thinking, these guys have to be some of the smartest marketers in the world …Fill people with enough fear and they’ll be emptying their wallets on the streets just for an ounce of comfort….be it a taxi out of town, watching CNN for some news, or a beer while you watch the chaos unfold and ponder your possible doom…just like all good paranoid little westerners we where emptying our wallets no matter what we were thinking …The icing on the cake happened when a local man opened his textile shop across from where I was sitting well after hours….Hey!! …pretty soon those silly tourists, Indians not excluded who ran from town like a turkey before christmas will be heading back - past his shop …..I was so enlightened by what I saw, I felt it a crime not to go over and shake this mans hand… “Good on ya mate” in my kiwi accent …I had just witnessed everyday India at its best …it’s business as usual, and you seaze it while you can if it puts food on your table!
I am however worried about the 3 big waves that took out the beach ….I dont know yet if anyone was caught in it - Ive just woken up after a long chaotic and mentally draining night …so Im going to go find out …and Im starving - the sea of people came just as I was about to sink my teeth into a big piece of tandorri chicken stuffed with lamb …Talk about inconsiderate timing - I havent had meat in ages!!!! …and fish doesnt count!!
Thanks heaps to everyone for their concern - Although Im always trying to see the lighter side of things, there’s a real feeling amoung many of us travellers here in Goa realising just how lucky we all are to be here when we watch the news - Everyones minds are on 2 things today, the chaos from last night and travellers we have meet along the way that may not have been so lucky …As far as Im aware nobody Ive met should have been in any of the worst hit areas at the time….Keeping my fingers crossed!!
Glad to read all is well with you. Kiwi humour is obviously deadpan if reading your email is the reflection of the world right now.
Enjoy the rest of travels - you’re now a part of international history at the tender age of twenty something.
Didn’t see you over breakfast tuesdaymorning to say goodbye to you. Palolem seems very far away already. We’re near the Ajanta caves now and traveling up to rajasthan the day after tomorrow. Anyway it was nice meeting you and enjoy the rest of your trip and good luck in Melbourne!
